The Houston Police Department said officers arrived in the Telephone Road neighborhood and were told the monkey had bit a neighbor and fought with a dog before fleeing under a pickup truck. Police were concerned the monkey might feel threatened and attempt to defend itself, so they summoned personnel from the city's BARC animal shelter for assistance. BARC officials were able to successfully contain the primate. They said the monkey would be taken to a specialist rehabilitation facility while police work to identify its owners and determine whether it should be returned home. "It's definitely a first. It wasn't something we were expecting when we got dispatched out there," Rodriguez told KABB-TV.
