Ontario gym owner does 879 chest-to-ground burpees in one hour

March 9 (UPI) -- An Ontario gym owner put his own athleticism to the test by performing 879 chest-to-ground burpees in one hour to break a Guinness World Record.

Nick Anapolsky, owner of Polsky's Strength & Conditioning in Kitchener, attempted the world record Saturday at his gym, performing the chest-to-ground variation of burpees, an exercise also known as a squat thrust.

Anapolsky beat the current record, set by Australian athlete Macauley Jones in 1994, by nine repetitions.

"The hour was full of ups and down (literally) but I got through it knowing I had my PSC community behind me and everyone else who was cheering me on," Anapolsky wrote in an Instagram post.
