Georgia angler's 2-pound fish breaks 25-year-old state record

Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Wildlife officials in Georgia said an angler broke a 25-year-old state record when he reeled in a 2-pound, 3-ounce hickory shad.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources said Christian Blake Jones of Swainsboro was fishing in the Ogeechee River in Emanuel County when he reeled in the record-breaking fish.

The DNR said the previous record was set in 1995, when an angler landed a hickory shad weighing 1 pound and 15 ounces.
