Chris Spell, 25, a Cortlandt personal trainer, took on the record Sunday at the Team Moljo Strength and Conditioning facility in Shrub Oak. Spell previously set the record in July 2019 and held it until September 2019, when Texas athlete Brett Williams took the title with a 65-inch vertical jump. "This one felt a lot different than the previous time I had the record because once I had it taken away from me, I took it a little more personally," Spell told the Rockland/Westchester Journal News. "I kind of had a chip on my shoulder to make sure that I got that back. I had an extra fire underneath. This jump felt much sweeter at 67 inches."
