Japanese arcade gets Guinness record for most claw crane machines

Jan. 21 (UPI) -- A video game arcade in Japan was awarded a Guinness World Record for the largest number of claw crane machine games in one venue: 477.

Genda Sega Entertainment announced Sega Shinjuku Kabukicho, the company's arcade in the Kabukicho district of Tokyo, was awarded the Guinness record after installing 477 "UFO Catcher" claw crane games in its facility.

The arcade took the record from Taito Station in Fuchu, Tokyo, which boasted 454 of the machines.

Sega Shinjuku Kabukicho, which reopened in late December, is dedicated exclusively to claw crane machines, with sections marked off according to prize categories.
