Dec. 2 (UPI) -- A Michigan man said a scratch-off game that scored him a $2,500 prize seemed lucky so he stuck with it and won $2 million just a few months later.

The 67-year-old Wayne County man told Michigan Lottery officials he picked up his favorite game, Classic Black, at the Westland Food Store in Westland on Thanksgiving Day.

"I won $2,500 playing Classic Black a few months ago and I've stuck with it ever since," the man said. "When I scratched the ticket off and saw I matched the '$2MIL' symbol I couldn't believe it."

He said his wife was the first person he told about his luck.

"I said to my wife: 'You're not going to believe this.' and showed her the ticket. Holding the winning ticket makes me feel like I'm in a dream," he recalled. "I keep pinching myself expecting to wake up and find out this is a dream, but now that I'm holding the check it all feels real."

The winner said he plans to buy a new home, donate to charities and help out his family with his newfound fortune.
