Dec. 2 (UPI) -- A sheriff's deputy in North Carolina climbed onto a rooftop to cut the ropes holding a hammock to a tree and free a trapped elk.

Jim Beaver of Maggie Valley captured photos and video when the elk got tangled in the hammock in his yard.

The Haywood County Sheriff's Office posted a photo to Facebook showing a deputy climbing onto a nearby rooftop and cutting through the ropes suspending the hammock.

"Great work to Cpl. Ken Stiles for cutting it free," the sheriff's office said.
