Aug. 8 (UPI) -- A wolf-dog hybrid that escaped from a Florida sanctuary was safely captured and returned after being spotted by members of the public.
The Shy Wolf Sanctuary in Naples said Eva, a wolf-dog hybrid, escaped about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and was shot with a tranquilizer dart just over an hour later, but managed to flee the area before being slowed by the sedative.
The sanctuary said sightings reported to the Collier County Sheriff's Office helped officials locate Eva late Wednesday night and she was safely captured.
Eva jumped a 10-foot fence to escape from the sanctuary, officials said. They said she is now being kept in a more secure enclosure to prevent a repeat escape.
