Police probe illegal stunts performed in middle of Texas intersection

Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Police in Texas are investigating a group of stunt drivers who illegally took over a busy intersection to perform dangerous stunts and set off fireworks.

Video from the 1:30 a.m. incident Sunday morning shows cars performing stunts and fireworks being shot off at a large intersection in the Galleria area of Houston.

The Houston Police Department and the Angleton Police Department said they are investigating the group in the video and they believe more illegal events are being planned.

A driver who identified himself only as "El Jefe" told KTRK-TV the Sunday incident lasted about 15-20 minutes.

"We could be out committing robberies or shooting, but no, we are just a group of people trying to have fun," he said. "[We] show off and show people around the world how we do things in Houston."
