Aug. 6 (UPI) -- A rare, sealed copy of a 1987 Nintendo game sold for $9,000 after being found in the attic of the seller's childhood home in Nevada.

Scott Amos said he found the sealed copy of Kid Icarus, an apparently forgotten Christmas or birthday gift, in the attic of his mother's home in Reno.

The game, which was originally purchased for $38.45 including tax, is one of the more rare games to find in sealed condition, Heritage Auctions said.

The auction house listed Amos' discovery online, where it sold for $9,000.

Amos said he is planning to split the proceeds with his sister and take a family trip to Disney World.
