May 28 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania man is being praised for his quick action in rescuing an injured bald eagle found blocking traffic on a busy bypass.

Dandon Miller of Lancaster said he was on the Route 30 bypass in Downingtown, Chester County, when traffic in front of him came to a stop.

Miller pulled over and discovered the vehicles had stopped because of a bald eagle in the road.

The biker wrapped the eagle in his flannel shirt and kept it safe at the side of the road until Pennsylvania State Police and personnel from the Tri-State Bird Rescue arrived at the scene.

The bird rescue said the female eagle is being treated for injuries to both of her feet and one wing. Officials said she is eating on her own and they are optimistic that she will recover and be released.
