Baboon's attempted burglary caught on home security camera

May 24 (UPI) -- A South Africa homeowner's security camera captured a baboon's failed attempt to break into the house in an apparent search for food.

The Ring doorbell camera footage shows the baboon searching for a way into the Simmons Town house, first at the front door and then on the roof of the home.

The homeowner said the baboon left after spotting humans watching from inside the house's windows.

The resident said neighbors have previously had baboons break into their homes and trash their kitchens.

Baboons are a protected species in the area and a "Baboon Hotline" service has been set up for residents to call in expert help to coax the primates back into the wild.
