Massachusetts emu returns home after three days on the loose

May 23 (UPI) -- An emu that avoided capture by police in Massachusetts for three days returned home on its own, authorities said.

The Adams Police Department said the emu, which gave police and animal control officers the slip on multiple occasions, is safely back with its owner.

Police said the emu's owner reported it returned home on its own Wednesday.

The emu had been sighted multiple times since its escape Sunday, but authorities had been unable to corner it.
