May 15 (UPI) -- A total of 1,000 people sampled three types of cheese at an Australian event to break the Guinness World Record for the largest cheese tasting.

Guinness confirmed the cheese tasting event at the annual Kangaroo Valley Show in New South Wales involved 1,000 people who each tasted samples of Bodalla Cheese's sage and saltbush cheddar, aka Old Man Saltbush; Bega Cheese's vintage cheddar; and Unicorn Cheese's Camembert.

The record-keeping organization required that three cheeses be involved in the tasting.

The event was organized by the Kangaroo Valley Agricultural & Horticultural Association and Kathy Harrington, who told Guinness she wanted to "promote the cheese and dairy industry in the area."
