Dec. 18 (UPI) -- An Ohio woman who had never before played the lottery won $20,000 from a scratch-off ticket she received as a gift.

Amanda Cox told Ohio Lottery officials she had asked her mother for a scratch-off lottery ticket for Christmas, and her mother bought her a Willy Wonka Golden Ticker from the Clark's Pump N' Shop in Ironton.

Cox's mother gave her the ticket as an early present, and she ended up scratching off a $20,000 win.

Cox, who said the ticket marked the first time she had ever played the lottery, said she plans to use her winnings to help pay for school and possibly buy a new car.
