Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Forest department officials in India said it took about five hours to use heavy machinery to rescue a baby elephant that fell into a well.

A video from the scene in Ramgarh, Jharkhand, shows the baby elephant trapped at the bottom of a 30-foot deep well.

Forest department officials said the baby fell into the well while villagers were attempting to chase its herd away from their homes.

The department used a construction digger to create a pathway for the baby elephant, which ran off to join the rest of its herd in the nearby woods.
