Nov. 29 (UPI) -- A British police department is warning residents to keep their houses closed tight to prevent incursions from a missing boa constrictor.

The Lincolnshire Police Department said the 8-foot snake escaped from its owner's Boston home Wednesday evening and officers searched the area, but did not locate the missing serpent.

"We are asking people to keep their windows and doors shut and block any external vents, for example, tumble dryer vents or extractor fan outlets," the police department said.

The department said the snake will likely attempt to find a warm spot such as a garden shed or under the hood of a car.

"The boa constrictor is not venomous, but should not be approached," police wrote.
