Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Authorities in New York state said they are trying to find the owner of an abandoned suitcase found to contain $1.3 million worth of cocaine.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said officers at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York searched a bag that arrived on a flight from Quito, Ecuador, and discovered it contained 38 smaller, brick-like packages.

The packages were found to contain a total of more than 100 pounds of cocaine.

The Port Authority Police Department said it is trying to identify the owner of the suitcase, who has not come forward to claim their luggage.
