Nov. 14 (UPI) -- A Western Australia family celebrating a nearly $1.5 million lottery jackpot said it's actually their second win after scoring a lottery prize 60 years ago.

The retired Stirling man, who claimed the $1,468,074 Lotterywest prize with his wife after Saturday's drawing, said his family previously scored a $2,164 lottery jackpot in the early 1950s.

"Lightening does strike twice," he said.

The couple said they learned about their win Monday when they scanned their ticket at Karrinyup News, the same store where they had purchased the ticket.

The players said they initially thought they had only matched five numbers, earning them a much smaller prize.

"I had mistakenly only matched five winning numbers and was so thrilled with the [$980] Division Three prize I thought we'd won that I barely slept," the man said.

"I was so bloody stunned to learn we had all the winning numbers that I started hugging the staff member!" he said.

The couple said they are planning to use their money for upkeep on their home and to possibly hire some extra help around the house. They said they will also share some of the newfound fortune with their children and grandchildren.
