Louisiana airport offering 'Gator Selfie' opportunities

Nov. 13 (UPI) -- A Louisiana airport is teaming with a nature institute to offer passengers the chance to snap "Gator Selfies" with real baby alligators.

Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport announced it is teaming with the Audubon Nature Institute to offer passengers the chance to pose for selfies with baby alligators in the baggage claim area.

The program was given a trial run Monday afternoon and officials said going forward it will be offered on Fridays from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

The "Gator Selfie" program is aimed at raising awareness of conservation measures and introducing Louisiana residents and visitors to one of the state's most famous animals.
