Residents of Pohala village in Odisha, India, said they woke up Thursday morning to find the approximately 8-year-old elephant stranded in the 35-foot-deep well. Advertisement Forest Department officials were summoned and used a digger to carve a path out of the hole while the rest of the elephant herd stood nearby. The elephant was eventually able to climb out of the hole and rejoin its herd.
