Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Wildlife officials in India used a digger to create a path for a young elephant to escape after falling down a well.

Residents of Pohala village in Odisha, India, said they woke up Thursday morning to find the approximately 8-year-old elephant stranded in the 35-foot-deep well.

Forest Department officials were summoned and used a digger to carve a path out of the hole while the rest of the elephant herd stood nearby.
