A KTRK-TV camera was rolling when a lone worker in reflective gear cleared a drain on the road, allowing the water to subside and cars to once again pass by the formerly flooded area.

The lone worker, who declined to give his identity before leaving in a white work truck, was dubbed the "highway hero" online as the footage went viral.
