Nov. 1 (UPI) -- A Michigan woman said an itchy hand was to blame for her winning a $2 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot.

Flint resident Jacquatte Prater, 28, told Michigan Lottery officials she started playing Mega Millions about a month before Tuesday night's drawing because of an itch on her hand.

"My hand started itching about a month ago, and I've always heard that mean you're about to come in to some money so I've been playing Mega Millions ever since," Prater said. "I woke up to a phone call from my best friend Wednesday morning to tell me someone had bought a big winning ticket at the Sunoco."

Prater's ticket, purchased at the Clio Road Sunoco station in Flint, matched the five white balls drawn in Tuesday's drawing, 20-31-39-46-49. The ticket didn't match the Mega Ball number, 23, but she chose the Megaplier option when she bought the ticket, so she won $2 million instead of $1 million.

"My fiance, Jim, and I got out of bed as quick as we could to go check our tickets at the store near our house. When we scanned it, both of our hearts dropped and we started celebrating!" she said.

Prater said she has big plans for the money.

"I can't wait to take my kids shopping," Prater said. "After that, we're going to make some smart investments to make sure this lasts us. We may open a small restaurant."

"My hand isn't itching any more, now it's just sweaty! I can't believe I really won!" she said.
