Hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest were joined Monday morning by teacher and author Science Bob, who demonstrated an "elephant's toothpaste" chemical reaction, which causes colorful foam to emerge from a tube due to the mixing of sodium iodide and hydrogen peroxide. Advertisement Science Bob demonstrated a small version of the experiment before embarking with the hosts on a large-scale attempt, which involved two buckets of sodium iodide being poured into 10.6 gallons of hydrogen peroxide. The result was hundreds of gallons of foam shooting out of a fountain measuring 461 cubic feet and 967 cubic inches. The experiment was certified by Guinness as the world's largest elephant's toothpaste fountain.
