June 7 (UPI) -- A Florida charter boat captain said a guest pulled what appeared to be trash out of the water and discovered it was a 12-year-old message in a bottle.

Capt. Tyler Vollmer of Fired Up Fishing Charters, based in Cape Canaveral, said he was on a recent trip when a guest asked to pick up some floating trash.

"So he took one of my bait nets and he dipped it out and at the time I said, 'Ya know? That might be a message in a bottle' and he turned around and looked at me and said, 'It is a message in a bottle!'" Vollmer told WOFL-TV.

The note inside the red, heart-shaped bottle featured the lyrics to Jim Croce's "Time in a Bottle" along with a personalized message to "Rory" from "Emily."

"Despite everything there is no one else I'd rather love and spend the rest of my life with," the author wrote in the note, which was dated Feb. 14, 2006.

Vollmer said he hopes Emily and Rory found their happy ending.

"I hope you guys do find each other... If you guys are not seeing each other now, hopefully the story will kind of rekindle a relationship and you guys get back together. My God, what a story that would be if we could get you guys back together," he said.
