Loose moose runs wild through Idaho city

June 6 (UPI) -- A moose spotted running loose through an Idaho city was shot with a tranquilizer dart and relocated to a safer area, officials said.

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game and the Pocatello Police Department responded at about 11 a.m. Tuesday when witnesses reported a yearling moose running loose through the Old Town Pocatello area.

Wildlife officers caught up with the moose at Memorial Park, but two attempts to shoot the female moose with tranquilizer darts failed.

The moose fled down a city street officials were finally about to shoot it with a dart on their third attempt. The moose settled down and fell asleep in a resident's back yard.

Officials said the moose was relocated to a safer area away from residences and roads.
