Escaped bulls fight in middle of California street

June 6 (UPI) -- Police in California shared a photo of a fight between two escaped bulls that played out in the middle of a residential street.

The Fremont Police Officer posted a photo to Facebook and Twitter showing the two bulls locking horns in the middle of Castro Lane at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

"When an active 'bullfight' comes out over the radio," police wrote, "meetings take pause and everyone listens for the next update."

Police and animal control officers responded to the scene and the owner of the animals soon arrived to help "MOOve the two back to their property," the department said.

Police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said the owner was issued two $100 citations, one for each escaped bull, and will be responsible for footing the bill for property damage including toppled fences and dented cars.

Bosques said bulls are legal to keep in the city, but police rarely here of one escaping.

"I can't remember a bull being loose," Bosques told the East Bay Times. "A bullfight in the street is a first for sure."
