June 1 (UPI) -- A Utah couple encountered a territorial golf course moose that chased after them twice and forced them to flee in a golf cart.

Mark Redican of Salt Lake City said he and his wife were playing a round Monday at the Park City Golf Club when a worker warned them about the wandering moose on the course.

"She said, 'Hey just to give you a heads up there's a moose here so just keep your eye out,'" Redican told KSTU-TV.

Redican said his wife indeed kept an eye out and spotted the moose just as he was about to take a shot.

"I'm getting ready to hit my shot and all of the sudden she's like, 'Oh my god Red, here comes the moose,'" Redican said. "This moose is just lumbering at us, it's coming in hot, so we jump in the golf cart and drive away."

Witness Emily Clearwater captured the chase in a video that was posted to Facebook by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.

"When someone hits into your group without shouting 'fore!'" the DWR quipped.

Redican said the moose eventually veered off into the woods, but it reappeared a short while later.

"After we teed off at the next hole he made his way down to the golf course and came at us again," Redican said.

Redican said he and his wife eventually finished their game after evading the moose a second time.

"Well I had a pretty good round going so I had to finish the hole," he said. "I was right in the middle of the fairway, I actually ended up parring the hole."
