New Jersey sign lost in Hurricane Sandy turns up on French beach

By
Ben Hooper

June 1 (UPI) -- A New Jersey real estate firm that lost a sign in Hurricane Sandy said the sign turned up nearly six years later on a beach in France.

Diane Turton, Realtors, posted a photo to Facebook that was snapped on a beach in Bordeaux, France, where a man named Hannes Frank discovered the sign.

The firm said the sign was carried away from a waterfront home in Brielle during the superstorm in the fall of 2012.

"Having our signage wash up in France on the beach truly proves that Diane Turton, Realtors is a global real estate company," the Facebook post quipped.

Perry Beneduce, the firm's marketing director, said he examined the metadata on the photos emailed to the company by Frank and confirmed they were indeed snapped in France.

He said it was easy to determine where the sign had come from because the company changed its signage shortly after Sandy.

The 2,500-square-foot home where the sign was once posted sold in May 2013, Beneduce said.
