June 1 (UPI) -- The California Highway Patrol shared video from the rescue of two bear cubs that somehow ended up stranded in a sewer.

The CHP's South Lake Tahoe station posted a video to Facebook showing the cubs running out of the sewer and up a tree, where they rejoined their mother.

The CHP said troopers were called to the location in South Lake Tahoe on Thursday after witnesses noticed the mother bear waiting outside the sewer and determined her babies were trapped inside.

"CHP assisted with the rescue of two bear cubs stuck in a sewer," the Facebook post said. "The momma bear waited patiently in a nearby tree."
