May 24 (UPI) -- A mother sloth bear and her two cubs were rescued after plunging into an open well near an Indian village and the rescue was caught on video.

Witnesses said the mother sloth bear and her cubs were discovered inside the 20-foot well Tuesday near Nabarangpur, Odisha, and Forest Department officials were summoned to rescue the animals.

The officers arrived and used ropes to hoist the mother and one of her cubs out of the well and into a cage.

The second cub was plucked from the well moments later.

Forest officials said the bears will be examined by a veterinarian and released back into the wild.
