Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe May 23 (UPI) -- A news crew streaming a mother moose's visit live on Facebook ended up intervening to rescue a cyclist charged by the large animal. A news crew for KTVA-TV was live-streaming a mother moose and her calves next to the Glenn Highway, just outside of Anchorage's Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, on Monday when the mother moose charged at a cyclist and caused him to fall off his bicycle. Advertisement Reporter Joe Vigil and his crew didn't initially notice the moose attack until a second cyclist they were interviewing about a close encounter with the moose pointed out the scene taking place behind them. "I knew then the moose was attacking a rider, so I yelled at a photojournalist to drive down the ditch and onto the trail to get between the rider and the moose. So, that's what we did," Vigil said. Photojournalist Jared Mazurek drove the SUV between the cyclist and the moose. He and Vigil then helped the man, Andrew Eker, get back to his feet. They continued to use the SUV as a shield between the man and moose until he was a safe distance away from the protective mother.
