May 21 (UPI) -- A California man claimed a $5 million jackpot from a scratch-off lottery ticket -- bringing his total winnings to more than $6 million over six months.

Antulio Mazariegos visited the California Lottery's Van Nuys District Office and claimed a $5 million prize from a California Black Premium Scratchers ticket he bought from Liquor Bank in Van Nuys.

Mazariegos told officials he had noticed the store had only three of the tickets left so he decided to buy all of them, and all three turned out to be winners. The other two tickets were worth $1,000 and $600.

Mazariegos said the triple win wasn't his first brush with lottery luck -- he visited lottery headquarters in November to collect a $1 million prize from another scratch-off ticket.
