Feb. 16 (UPI) -- An Iowa woman said what initially appeared to be a cheap Valentine's Day gift from her husband turned out to be a $100,000 lottery jackpot.

Cynthia Holmes of Boone told Iowa Lottery officials that she was initially unimpressed with her husband's choice of a $10 Casino Riches scratch-off ticket for a Valentine's Day present.

"My husband gave me a gift of a scratch off and I'm like, 'Oh, that's really expensive,'" Holmes joked. "I scratch it off. I won $100,000!"

Holmes said the win didn't sink in until she scanned the ticket at lottery headquarters in Clive.

"[The machine] went, 'Woo hoo!' And I'm like - my hands started shaking and like butterflies in my stomach," she said. "It is still sinking in."

Holmes' husband, Don, said he did not share her disbelief.

"I [saw] the dice. I knew she was a winner," Don Holmes said. "I thought it would just be $100 but it turned out to be $100,000."

Holmes said she plans to use the money to pay off her car and her house.
