Pony outruns oncoming train in narrow escape

Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Astonished onlookers captured video of a tense scene in Thailand when an escaped pony managed to outrun an oncoming train.

The video, recorded Wednesday next to a road in Hua Hin District, shows witnesses shouting and honking their car horns at a pony standing on some railroad tracks as a train speeds toward it.

The small horse notices the train in time and runs down the middle of the tracks in front of the locomotive, which appears to come within inches of the animal as it flees.

Witnesses said the pony, which escaped from a nearby stables, was able to outrun the train until it came to a stop.
