Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Animal services officers in Florida were called to a family's home to remove an unusual laundry room intruder -- a large iguana. The Martin County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that Animal Services Officers Kimberly Guile and Brent Lavy responded to a Jensen Beach family's home after the iguana was spotted "lounging near their washing machine." Advertisement The officers cornered the 4-foot lizard and transported it to a facility equipped to care for the animal, which Guile said is believed to be an escaped or abandoned pet. "Please note, the only reason we took the iguana with us was because we believe he is a pet, judging from his friendly, calm demeanor," Guile wrote in a comment under the post. "He is safe and warm while we network to try to find the owner. There are so many iguanas around Martin County and because they are exotics, we cannot relocate them. We usually only respond to calls of them sick/injured or inside a home."
