Feb. 9 (UPI) -- A reptile handler was summoned to a popular South Africa beach to capture a venomous black mamba snake spotted by a teen jogger.

The Crocworld Conservation Center said a teenage jogger spotted the large snake while going for a run on Scottburgh's main beach, in front of the Cutty Sark Hotel, and alerted nearby swimmers Owen and Nadi Kuyper to the deadly serpent's presence.

The Kuypers contacted Crocworld, which sent manager Martin Derek Rodrigues to the beach to capture the snake.

Crocworld posted a video to Facebook showing Rodrigues carefully capturing the venomous snake.

Rodrigues said it's unusual to find black mambas at the beach. He said the snake was likely trying to cool off from the heat.

"When I tried to catch the snake, I noticed a lot of water coming out of its mouth so it may have swallowed quite a bit of sea water," Rodrigues said.
