White said he found the eagle about 10 yards into the woods and verified the predator was unable to fly due to an apparent broken wing.

White was soon joined by a pair of Alachua County sheriff's deputies and they were able to capture the bird, which was dubbed "Baldie" in a Facebook post by the Gainesville Police Department.

Baldie was taken to the Eye of the Eagle Wildlife Sanctuary for treatment and rehabilitation.
