Thousands of birds congregate at Texas intersection

Feb. 5 (UPI) -- A driver in Texas captured video of an unusual and somewhat eerie sight: thousands of birds congregating at a single intersection.

The video, filmed Sunday in Mesquite shows thousands of birds gathered on the signal lights, utility lines and several other surfaces at the intersection while more avians fly above.

The filmer said the gathering is a bizarre annual event.

"This is an intersection where every year around this time birds hang out by the thousands. It's a mystery why," the filmer wrote.
