Jan. 25 (UPI) -- An ice fisherman in Wisconsin briefly switched sides during a recent outing to rescue a massive trout that jumped out onto the ice.
Eric Haataja, who owns his own fishing guide business, said he was ice fishing in Milwaukee about two weeks ago when a large brown trout jumped out of the water and ended up on the thin ice.
Haataja's video shows him carefully approach the fish and slide it across the ice and back into the water.
"I, as well as many other people, in the fishing community, know that the stocking of this species (brown trout) is no longer happening because of political reasons. Therefore when I saw this, I needed to act and save the species," Haataja said.
