Territorial eagle knocks drone out of the Utah sky

Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A man using his video drone to take scenic video of a Utah valley captured the moment a territorial eagle knocked the device out of the sky.

A video posted to YouTube by user High & Mighty Hikes shows what happened when the man attempted to use his GoPro Karma drone camera to take scenic video of Professor Creek, near Moab.

The video shows an eagle swoop down on the drone after only a little over a minute of flight and knock the device to the ground.

"I'd made my flight up the creek was bringing the drone back and I saw the golden eagle flying in its direction," the filmer wrote.

"Right about the time I thought I should land the eagle had other plans. He nailed it so fast all I saw was the drone go down from about 120 feet in the air. I'll be honest, I ducked for cover because it was almost directly over my head. It landed about 8 feet in front of me. The eagle flew off and I saw where it landed and watched him take off again and fly away. I am an animal lover and I especially like raptors. I would have never flown in his area had I known he was there and I'm especially glad that he wasn't harmed."
