Florida man wrestles alligator outside of his home

Jan. 22 (UPI) -- A Florida man who spotted an alligator wandering close to his home wrestled the reptile into submission and freed it from a ring stuck around its body.

Michael Stauffer posted a video to Facebook showing what happened when he decided to capture an alligator he spotted outside of his home in Bokeelia.

The video shows Stauffer capture and bind the alligator before removing a hard plastic ring stuck around the reptile's body.

"I took him to Florida Fish & Wildlife after I cut the ring off of it that was cutting him up all over his body," Stauffer wrote.

He said he turned the gator over to a Florida Fish and Wildlife Officer to be relocated.

Stauffer said he probably wouldn't repeat the stunt, as he was told that transporting alligators could run afoul of state laws.
