Fire truck for sale at the side of Florida road turns heads

Jan. 18 (UPI) -- A vehicle parked at the side of a Florida road with a "for sale" sign is turning heads due to its unusual nature -- a fire truck.

A surprised driver on a Miami-Dade County road captured video of a fire truck parked at the side of a road with a message written on the windows saying it is "for sale."

The truck is listed as a 1987 model with 57,000 miles on the odometer and an asking price of $18,000 or best offer.

The truck bears the logo of a fire department, but the name of the department appears to have been washed off or painted over.

The filmer said the "Only in South Florida" sight was highly unusual for the area, and WPLG-TV said calls to the phone number listed on the truck went unanswered.

A fire truck for sale at the side of the road might be a rare sight, but it is not unusual for retired fire trucks to hit the private market -- a similar 1987 model truck is listed on Craigslist in Fort Myers Beach for an asking price of $9,500.
