Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A penguin hopped out of the water to greet a group of Australian researchers in Antartica.

The Australian Antarctic Division shared video captured by Matthew McKay as the friendly Adelie penguin popped on to their boat for a brief visit.

"When a penguin drops in to check on your work," the Antarctic Division said.

The curious penguin sprung out of the water, landing on some equipment in the middle of the small raft.

The penguin quickly inspected the vessel to assure everything was in order before hopping out as one of the researchers leaned toward it.

After completing its visit the penguin leapt back into the water and swiftly swam away.
