Jan. 17 (UPI) -- An 8-year-old boy from Morwenstow, England, found a message in a bottle written by a 10-year-old girl in Canada.

Noah Crooks discovered the letter while he helped clear debris from Stanbury Mouth Beach near Bude, England with his father and brother after large amounts of waste were washed up by recent storms.

The letter, from Jacquie Chmilar who lives in Fort McMurray in Alberta, Canada, was sent out to sea six months ago while she visited her grandparents in Newfoundland.

"I was just picking up rubbish when I looked in the bottle and saw the note. I went up and told dad but he didn't think it was real until he saw it," Crooks said while speaking with BBC.

The note included Chmilar introducing herself and giving instructions to call or email her if found. Crooks' father emailed Chmilar and soon received a reply from the girl.

Crooks said "it was really cool" and that he planned on keeping in touch with Chmilar.

Chmilar had sent out multiple messages in a bottle her mother Suzanne Mouland-Chmilar confirmed while speaking with Metro.

"She's so excited to find new friends, she was also hoping someone would find it," her mother said. "'There was another bottle found as well on Widemouth, Cornwall, by a little girl who is nine, so she had two bottles found within a week."
