Jan. 12 (UPI) -- A Minnesota man preparing to graduate with an aviation degree used his piloting skills to propose to his girlfriend with a message carved in snow.

Gavin Becker, a University of North Dakota student, took his longtime girlfriend, Olivia Toft, up in a small Cessna plane over his family's In-We-Go Resort to show her what he had used a snowblower to write in the snow on a frozen lake -- "Marry Me."

The message, which included an oversized heart, had the desired effect and Toft accepted the proposal.

The In-We-Go Resort shared photos of the message and the happy couple on Facebook.

"He's such a high achiever," Becker's father, Ed, told KARE-TV. "Never asks for help, kind of a do-it-yourself guy."
