Live TV interview interrupted by man's 5-year-old son

Jan. 9 (UPI) -- A film expert being interviewed live via video chat on a cable news network found his segment derailed when his 5-year-old son put in an appearance.

Daniel Smith-Rowsey, a film historian and adjunct professor at St. Mary's College of California in Moraga, was being interviewed by an Al Jazeera English host about Sunday's Golden Globe awards and the recent sexual abuse scandals when his son popped up behind him on camera.

"That's my child, excuse me," Smith-Rowsey said.

The host, Sohail Rahman, took young Rainier's unexpected appearance in stride.

"We're quite happy to have youngsters on the program, too," he said.

Al Jazeera branded the interview a "BBC moment," referring to an interview that went viral last year, when professor Robert Kelly's young children burst into the room behind him while he was being interviewed over video chat.
