Jan. 2 (UPI) -- The Harlem Globetrotters set a world record by making nearly 350 half court shots in an hour while appearing on live television.

Six members of the exhibition basketball team set the Guinness World Record for most basketball half-court shots made in one hour (team) with 348 made baskets, while appearing on Good Morning America in New York.

Prior to the attempt host Ginger Zee asked team member Handles Franklin if he was nervous about taking a shot at the record and he said impressive stunts are standard practice for the Globetrotters.

"As Harlem Globetrotters that's what we do: amazing feats of basketball," he said. "We've been doing it for years. We pride ourselves on being great basketball players and perfectionists."

After the Globetrotters surpassed the required 200 made shots and set their own mark, Guinness World Records adjudicators Michael Furnari and Alex Angert tallied the count and presented the players with their world record certificate.

As an organization the Globetrotters hold 15 world records for trick shots and other basketball skills.
