Police: Man called 911 twice to complain about small clam dinner

Dec. 26 (UPI) -- A Florida police department said a man who "didn't know when to clam up" was cited for misuse of 911 after he called twice to complain about the size of his seafood order.

The Stuart Police Department said in a Facebook post that Nelson Agosto, 51, called 911 from a restaurant twice after he ordered and ate a steamed clam dinner.

The department shared audio from one of the calls, which featured Agosto complaining that he didn't want to pay for the dish he had consumed because it was "too small."

The dispatcher can be heard repeatedly advising Agosto to call back on a non-emergency line.

Officer David Jacobson responded to the restaurant and ended up issuing Agosto a notice to appear summons for misuse of 911.

The police department quipped the 911 "caller didn't know when to clam up."
