Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Santa Claus' arrival on a Florida island via boat ended in drenched disaster when he stepped onto the dock and almost immediately plunged into the water.

Gunnar Smith posted a video to Facebook showing Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving at a Wekiva Island dock in a small boat.

The pair climb from the boat to the dock without too much difficulty, but Santa takes too large a step backward while greeting his adoring public and plunges into the Wekiva River.

Smith said soggy old St. Nick was a good enough swimmer and was able to return to dry land without injury.

"Santa may have had a few too many! Only at Wekiva Island! Watch until the end," Smith wrote.
